Education Officer (Projects and Education Section)

Fauna Conservation Department

Major responsibilities

  • Organise educational activities and collaborate with other environmental NGOs;
  • Develop interpretive and artistic content of public exhibit displays;
  • Develop Facebook stories to promote the work of the department and the organisation and assist the Live Education Displays section with weekly Animal Keeper talks;
  • Handle media approaches related to the department work;
  • Coordinate the public Night Walk Programme supporting animal experts;
  • Develop the connections with nature theme for animal encounters activities;
  • Develop educational resources and animal story signage for rescued wildlife;
  • Handle general administrative duties in support of the education programmes;
  • Provide interpretation service for the organisation visitors and schools;
  • Train and manage the education volunteer team;
  • Budget preparation for the departments education programme;
  • Manage and develop the animal photo library;
  • Sit on the Holistic Education Forum at the organisation;
  • Assist the conservation project team with both education related work and the daily running of the conservation projects including but not limited to the care of project turtles, assistance with snake rescue work and any field work required in support of the project team goals.

Job Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organisation;
  • Excellent command of English and Cantonese (written, spoken and in presentation). Fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage;
  • Degree holder in education, or natural sciences, 4+ years of working experience in education and/or community education programmes;
  • Computer literate, Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
  • Passion for nature;
  • Self-motivated, dynamic and a good team player;
  • Physically fit for frequent outdoor work and willing to work on Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays (for education activities);
  • Valid Type I or II driving license an advantage.
