Job Overview:

We are helping our client find a highly motivated and results-driven Food Waste & Resource Efficiency Manager to lead and implement food waste reduction strategies and upcycling initiatives within their operations in Hong Kong. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments to minimize food waste, promote sustainability, and drive circular economy practices through innovative solutions. By leveraging strategic initiatives and fostering cross-functional partnerships, this position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on reducing environmental footprints while enhancing operational efficiency. As the landscape of sustainability evolves, this role also provides a platform to lead transformative change and set new industry standards.

Key Responsibilities of Food Waste & Resource Efficiency Manager:

  • Create and execute food waste reduction and resource efficiency strategies aligned with sustainability goals across operations.
  • Design and implement upcycling initiatives to repurpose food waste into valuable products, collaborating with culinary teams, suppliers, and local partners.
  • Educate and train staff on food waste management, resource efficiency, and upcycling techniques, fostering a culture of sustainability.
  • Track and analyze food waste data, providing regular reports on performance, cost savings, and environmental impact, and continuously refine strategies.
  • Work with procurement teams to improve sourcing practices, reduce packaging, and select sustainable suppliers to support sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with NGOs, food banks, and farms to donate surplus food and manage waste responsibly, promoting social responsibility.
  • Ensure all initiatives comply with local regulations, health standards, and sustainability certifications.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends in food waste management and sustainability, proposing and implementing best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food waste management, sustainability, or resource efficiency, preferably within the foodservice, hospitality, or retail sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of food waste reduction techniques and circular economy principles.
  • Experience in upcycling food waste or implementing similar sustainability initiatives.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and report on waste metrics.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity in developing waste reduction solutions.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and best practices in food waste management and sustainability.
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Passionate about sustainability and food waste reduction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
