Zero Waste & Circular Economy Consultant

Job Summary:

Seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Zero Waste & Circular Economy Consultant to join a dynamic team and help drive sustainable practices in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will work with businesses, government agencies, and organisations to develop and implement strategies that minimize waste, maximize resource efficiency, and promote a circular economy. This role involves assessing current systems, recommending solutions, and guiding clients toward more sustainable, waste-reducing practices. By leveraging your expertise, you will not only contribute to the transformation of individual organizations but also play a pivotal role in advancing sustainability efforts across industries in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities of Zero Waste & Circular Economy Consultant:

1. Consulting & Strategy Development:

   • Work closely with clients to understand their operations, identify waste challenges, and develop customized zero waste and circular economy strategies.
   • In addition, conduct audits of waste streams, supply chains, and resource usage, providing actionable recommendations for reduction, reuse, and recycling.
   • Moreover, design and implement waste management programs that align with clients’ sustainability goals, regulatory standards, and best practices.
   • Finally, guide on incorporating circular economy principles into business models, such as designing for durability, repairability, and resource recovery.

2. Project Management:

   • Oversee the implementation of zero waste and circular economy initiatives from start to finish, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to client expectations.
   • Additionally, collaborate with cross-functional teams, including waste management providers, logistics, and sustainability experts, to execute sustainability programs effectively.
   • Furthermore, track project progress and provide regular updates, metrics, and reports to clients and stakeholders.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

   • Engage with government bodies, NGOs, and industry groups to stay updated on policies, regulations, and trends related to waste reduction and circular economy initiatives.
   • Facilitate workshops, presentations, and training sessions for staff, clients, and external partners to raise awareness and build capacity around sustainability practices.
   • Assist clients in engaging their employees, customers, and other stakeholders to promote and support waste reduction goals.

4. Data Analysis & Reporting:

   • Collect, analyze, and report on waste generation, resource consumption, and environmental impact, using data to develop insights and measure progress toward sustainability goals.
   • In addition, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring waste reduction, resource efficiency, and circular economy outcomes.
   • Prepare comprehensive sustainability reports for clients, providing recommendations for future improvements and showcasing achieved results.

5. Policy & Regulatory Compliance:

   • Advise clients on compliance with local and international waste management and circular economy regulations.
   • Stay informed about the latest trends, policies, and technologies in zero waste and circular economy practices to offer the most current and effective solutions.

6. Market Research & Innovation:

   • Conduct market research to identify new technologies, materials, and systems that can support circular economy models and waste reduction.
   • Keep up with global sustainability innovations and trends to help clients stay ahead of industry shifts and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:.

• At least 3 years of experience in sustainability consulting, waste management, or circular economy roles, with proven expertise in zero waste and circular economy solutions.
• Strong knowledge of circular economy principles, waste reduction strategies, and sustainability frameworks.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong’s waste management regulations, policies, and environmental standards.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple clients and deadlines.
• Proficiency in data analysis, sustainability reporting tools, and waste tracking software.
• Fluent in English (Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus).
