Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Carbon Footprint & Energy Efficiency Specialist to lead the development and implementation of strategies aimed at measuring, reducing, and reporting on the company’s carbon footprint while enhancing energy efficiency across its operations in Hong Kong. In this role, the specialist will focus on identifying energy-saving opportunities and driving sustainable practices, ensuring compliance with both local and international environmental standards. Additionally, the specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners to promote carbon reduction initiatives and optimize energy consumption, ultimately contributing to the company’s sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to measure, analyze, and track the company’s carbon footprint across various operations. In addition, develop and maintain carbon inventories to assess direct and indirect emissions (scope 1, 2, and 3).
- Following this, develop and implement energy efficiency programs aimed at reducing energy consumption and associated costs. To support these efforts, conduct energy audits to identify energy-saving opportunities across facilities, equipment, and processes.
- Moreover, ensures accurate and timely reporting of carbon footprint and energy efficiency metrics in line with local regulations, sustainability reporting standards, and industry best practices. Prepare reports for internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sustainability certifications (e.g., ISO 50001).
- Collaborating with internal teams, integrate energy-efficient and carbon-reducing solutions into day-to-day operations. In parallel, advocate for the adoption of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient equipment, and sustainable practices across all departments.
- Additionally, monitor and ensure compliance with local environmental regulations in Hong Kong, as well as international standards (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Paris Agreement). Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and policy related to carbon emissions and energy use.
- Lead projects focused on energy efficiency and carbon reduction, from planning and execution to tracking performance and results. Similarly, collaborate with other departments to meet sustainability targets and deadlines.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and external organizations, to ensure alignment on energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction goals. At the same time, participate in industry events and collaborations to enhance the company’s sustainability presence.
- Analyze data on energy usage and carbon emissions to identify trends and areas for improvement. Based on this analysis, recommend innovative technologies and best practices to continually reduce the environmental impact of the company’s operations.
- Finally, develop training programs and workshops to educate employees on energy-saving practices and the importance of reducing carbon emissions. In doing so, foster a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across the organization.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in carbon footprint management, energy efficiency, or sustainability within a corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of energy management systems, carbon accounting, and sustainability reporting standards.
- Experience in conducting energy audits and implementing energy-saving initiatives is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of carbon accounting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol) and energy management systems.
- Proficient in sustainability reporting tools, energy data analysis, and carbon footprint calculation software.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Fluent in English (Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage).
