Position Overview:

Our client, a leading organization in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sustainable Operations & Compliance Manager to drive sustainability initiatives and ensure adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. This role is instrumental in integrating sustainability across all operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the company’s long-term sustainability impact. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in sustainable business practices, compliance regulations, and cross-functional leadership, helping the organization achieve operational excellence while maintaining responsible business practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sustainability Strategy Development:

    • Lead the development and execution of sustainability strategies, setting both short-term and long-term goals.
    • Align sustainability objectives with business priorities to enhance corporate responsibility and operational efficiency.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local and international ESG regulations.
    • Stay updated on evolving sustainability and environmental legislation in Hong Kong and other relevant regions.
    • Collaborate with legal teams to maintain compliance with industry standards and global sustainability frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001, carbon footprint, waste management laws).
  3. Environmental Impact Management:

    • Identify, track, and report environmental impact metrics such as energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and carbon emissions.
    • Develop and implement initiatives to minimize the company’s environmental footprint, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, recycling programs, and sustainable sourcing.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Work closely with internal teams, including senior leadership and operations, to integrate sustainability into core business processes.
    • Engage with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, and industry groups, to strengthen the company’s sustainability initiatives.
  5. Training & Awareness:

    • Develop sustainability training programs to enhance awareness and ensure company-wide compliance with sustainability policies.
    • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility through education and engagement.
  6. Sustainability Reporting & Metrics:

    • Prepare and present sustainability reports to senior leadership, tracking performance against targets and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor key sustainability metrics, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify and implement best-in-class sustainability practices, leveraging industry trends and emerging technologies.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational sustainability performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in sustainability, environmental compliance, or operations management, with leadership or managerial experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability regulations and compliance standards, particularly in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing and reporting sustainability metrics.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement sustainability programs and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive change and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sustainability reporting tools/software.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, carbon footprint management, and other sustainability certifications is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in industry-specific sustainability challenges (e.g., manufacturing, energy, retail).
  • Familiarity with emerging sustainability technologies and innovations.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin (preferred but not mandatory).
